Biology 2 class invades the Smith Museum!
Published: December 9, 2014
Students from CWI’s Biology 2 class traveled to the Orma J. Smith Museum of Natural History in Caldwell this week to explore the biodiversity and evolution of organisms. Biology 2 is a critical course in the training of any biologist and as an end-of-term adventure we visited the museum to get a first-hand look at some of the evidence for evolutionary theory and to interact with the museum’s vast collection of arthropod, mollusk, and vertebrate collections. In addition, the museum houses some amazing artifacts from Native American cultures which provide a bridge between the natural history and the human history of our region. The volunteer-run Smith Museum is the only natural history museum in south-western Idaho and is open to the public each Friday. Accommodations for groups can be made by reservation. For more information please contact Steve Lysne at 208.562.3360 or stevelysne@cwi.edu.
